LAST IN A 10-PART SERIES •  TODAY: 3M CHAMPIONSHIP

Last update: July 2, 2009 - 6:54 PM

Location/date attended: TPC Twin Cities in Blaine/last July 17-19.

Itemized cost of attending: Tickets, shuttles and parking this year for the 3M Championship are free; a variety of concession stand items are available.

Why someone should attend: It's a chance to see some of the biggest names in golf from the 1980s and 1990s show their stuff. Despite getting older in age, Champions Tour players can still shine; R.W. Eaks won the event last year at 23 under par.

Biggest plus: Other than free admission, it's the overall atmosphere and access that is fun for the whole family.

Biggest drawback: Tournament organizers do a good job of placing up-to-the-minute leaderboards around the course, but try as you might, you will miss a good bit of action if you choose to follow only one group.

Did you know: Attendance last year without offering free admission was estimated at 120,000 for Friday-Sunday.
