"Unless I win four majors, this is something I'll always remember," Park said.
Oddly enough, it was Lewis who said she would like to play the role of spoiler at St. Andrews to stop Park's bid for history. With the trophy at her side, Lewis marveled at what Park had accomplished this year.
"Nice to know — I guess — that she's human," Lewis said with a laugh. "I thought winning three in a year would be hard, let alone three in a row. I don't know if you'll ever see three in a row again."
Woods and Wright are the only players to win four straight professional majors, both doing it over parts of two seasons. Park still has a chance to become the first pro to win four majors in a year. The LPGA's fifth major is the Evian Championship in September. Park is the defending champion, though she doesn't expect to face nearly as much public scrutiny when she gets to France.
She said she felt "exhausted" and was on her way home to rest in South Korea.
But she found one more aspect about this week at St. Andrews that made her smile.
"I get to do an interview after shooting 6 over," she said. "Everything at this tournament is new to me."
