University of Minnesota men's golfer Kyle Beversdorf lost 2 and 1 to Kevin Aylwin of Florida on Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the USGA Amateur Public Links championships at Soldier Hollow Golf Course in Utah.

Earlier Friday, Beversdorf, who played for Wayzata High School, defeated Columbia's Carlos Rodriguez 1 up in the quarterfinals.

Beversdorf qualified for the 64-player match-play field by shooting a two-day total 1-over-par in the stroke play portion of the event earlier in the week.

Aylwin will take on T.J. Vogel of Miami in Saturday's 36-hole match-play final. Vogel knocked off defending runner-up Derek Ernst 4 and 3 in the semifinals.
