Hastings CC golfer claims MGA Senior

Leif Carlson of Hastings CC overtook Rick Sandretto of Boulder Pointe GC and David Kokesh of Bent Creek GC for a one-stroke victory at the MGA Senior Championship at the Minikahda Club on Wednesday.
Carlson shot a 75 for a 54-hole total of 223. Sandretto shot a final-round 75 and Kokesh a 76.
Champions in the master and grand master divisions were crowned Tuesday. Gerry Gruidl of Golden Valley G&CC won the master (65+) division, while Bob Leaf out of Stillwater CC won the grand master (75+) Division.
North Central U is now Division IIINorth Central University, located in downtown Minneapolis, announced on Wednesday that its athletic program has completed its transition to a full membership in NCAA Division III. North Central's athletic program, which has grown from six sports in 1999 to 14, will be an associate member of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and a Division III independent as it pursues a full-time conference membership. North Central started the transition to Division III in the summer of 2005.
Gophers head out on basketball tripThe Gophers men's basketball team will begin its three-game exhibition tour in Canada with a matchup against University of British Columbia at 9 p.m. Thursday (streamed live on SportsCanada.TV). They'll face Trinity Western University at 9 p.m. Friday (streamed live on gospartans.ca) and end their tour Sunday against University of Victoria at 5 p.m. (Govikesgo.com/broadcast).
