Notable: The Red Storm has been outrebounded by almost four per game and announced C Chris Obekpa was suspended for the first two weekends of the tournament.

Notable: Led by Southland Player of the Year Walkup, the Lumberjacks are back after making quite an impression last year, when they beat VCU 77-75 in overtime.

Notable: Since 2009, the Hoyas have won a grand total of one NCAA tournament game. Their past five NCAA losses came against teams seeded 10th or worse.

Notable: The Eagles are guard-oriented, led by national scoring leader Harvey. They won at Indiana and had close losses to SMU, Washington and California.

Notable: The Zags had a good shot at a No. 1 seed before stumbling at home vs. BYU. Gonzaga has Final Four-level talent, led by Wiltjer and Kevin Pangos.

BISON (23-9)

Coach: Saul Phillips.

Entry: Summit champion.

Key player: Lawrence Alex­ander (18.9 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.8 apg).

Notable: The Bison went 15-4 vs. conference foes, and 12 wins were by single digits, including a one-point win over South Dakota State in the Summit final.

HAWKEYES (21-11)

Notable: The Hawkeyes closed the regular season with six consecutive victories, securing their second consecutive NCAA trip. Iowa is athletic and deep but also prone to shooting droughts.

Notable: The Wildcats are one of the nation's best outside-shooting teams at 40 percent from three-point range. Kalinoski was the A-10 Player of the Year.

Notable: Brown, in his third season coaching the Mustangs, is back in the NCAA tournament for the first time since leading Kansas to the 1988 championship.

BRUINS (20-13)

Coach: Steve Alford.

Entry: Pac-12 at-large.

Key player: Norman Powell (16.4 ppg, 4.7 rpg)

Notable: A loss to Gonzaga on Dec. 13 was the start of a five-game losing streak that also included losses to Kentucky and Utah. The Bruins are only 4-12 away from home this season.

CYCLONES (25-8)

Entry: Big 12 champion.

Key player: Georges Niang (15.5 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 3.5 apg).

Notable: The Cyclones are one of the most dangerous offensive teams in the country, averaging 78.4 points per game. But defending with consistency has been an issue.

BLAZERS (19-15)

Coach: Jerod Haase.

Entry: Conference USA champion.

Key player: Robert Brown (13.1 ppg, 3.1 apg).

Notable: The Blazers earned an NCAA bid after the university announced in December it was shutting down its football program, a move that drew an outcry from UAB fans.
