Chelsea Witwicke scored on the power-play at 12:03 of the second period. Raiders are having their way, outshooting Hopkins 25-5. Credit Royals goaltender Kallie Billadeau for keeping it close. She made a pad save to stop Roseville's Bethany Brausen on a breakaway late in the period.
Abbey Seashore scored at 3:32 for Hopkins. Star Tribune Metro Player of the Year Bethany Brausen answered at 5:41 for Roseville.
Cake anyone? Sorry, Edina fans. Cheap shot. The Hornets advance to the Class 2A championship thanks to a strong defensive performance throughout and two late goals to turn a 2-1 edge into a commanding 4-1 lead.
No. 1 Roseville vs. No. 4 Hopkins next.
Edina struck first in the period, scoring on the power play after killing a 5X3 followed by another penalty. Irondale tied the game as Meghan Lorence got a shot to deflect off an Edina defender and past goalie Maddie Dahl. But just 48 seconds later, the Hornets answered. They crashed the net hard, prompting an officials review of the goal.
