Ricky Rubio's mother passes away

Sad news came today, with Wolves guard Ricky Rubio's mother Tona Vives passing away at age 56 after battling lung cancer.

The family released this statement:

"Tona was our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. How she impacted all our lives will never be forgotten. While we mourn the loss of an incredible woman, we also celebrate her remarkable life."

Services will be held Friday in Barcelona, Spain.

Here is a statement from the team:

"The Timberwolves organization is deeply saddened to learn of the passing today of Tona Vives, Ricky Rubio's mother. The Timberwolves send our condolences to the Vives and Rubio families in this difficult time.''

No surprise: Karl-Anthony Towns leads NBA's all-rookie team

Wolves budding star Karl-Anthony Towns has been honored, again.

After being unanimously voted the NBA’s rookie of the year Towns, along with New York’s Kristaps Porzingis were both unanimously voted onto the league’s all rookie team.

Both players received all 130 first team votes from a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters in the United States and Canada.

Joining Towns and Porzingis are Devin Booker (Phoenix), Nikola Jokic (Denver) and Jahlil Okafor (Philadelphia).

The second team consists of Miami’s Justise Winslow, D’Angelo Russell (Los Angeles Lakers), Emmanual Mudiay (Denver), Myles Turner (Indiana) and Willie Cauley-Stein (Sacramento).
