Gophers tight end Lingen out indefinitely with foot injury

Gophers tight end Brandon Lingen is expected to miss several weeks, at least, with a left foot injury suffered Saturday against Rutgers.

Lingen, an honorable mention Big Ten selection last year, left the Rutgers game in the third quarter and returned to the sideline with a walking boot and crutches. It was another tough blow for Lingen who missed three games with a broken clavicle earlier in the season.

During his Tuesday press conference, coach Tracy Claeys did not rule out Lingen returning this season.

The Gophers listed Lingen, defensive tackle Steven Richardson (concussion) and right tackle Jonah Pirsig (sprained ankle) as out for this week's game at Illinois, on their weekly injury report.

Meanwhile, the five players with restraining orders keeping them from TCF Bank Stadium, had their hearing today extended to Nov. 3. That is two days before the Gophers next home game on Nov. 5 against Purdue.

Those five players -- KiAnte Hardin, Ray Buford, Dior Johnson, Tamarion Johnson and Calrton Djam -- are available to play in this week's road game at Illinois.

One of six restraining orders lifted for Gophers football team

Kiondre Thomas, one of the six Gophers football players served with a restraining order last week, had his restraining order lifted Monday, according to a court document obtained by the Star Tribune.

An alleged victim from a Sept. 2 incident petitioned for two-year restraining orders to keep KiAnte Hardin, Ray Buford, Tamarion Johnson, Dior Johnson, Carlton Djam and Thomas from TCF Bank Stadium, as well as her apartment.

Those six players were banned from the stadium for Saturday's game against Rutgers. The alleged victim is part of the Gophers game day operation. On Monday, she petitioned to have the restraining order against Thomas dismissed "upon further review of the incident."

Thomas is a freshman cornerback who has yet to play this season. The other five players have a hearing Tuesday, and their attorney, Lee Hutton, expects to have all of their restraining orders overturned.

None of the six players have been arrested or charged in connection with the alleged Sept. 2 incident. The Gophers suspended Hardin, Buford, Tamarion Johnson and Dior Johnson for three games while Minneapolis police investigated, but those players were reinstated to the team when Hennepin County announced it was declining to press charges.

On Sunday, Gophers coach Tracy Claeys said Hardin, Buford and the other players "will be active" at practice this week and available to play in Saturday's road game at Illinois.
