Wild Road Tour celebs set

Posted by: Michael Russo under On the road, Wild off-season news Updated: June 8, 2010 - 8:09 AM

Good morning. I'll probably toss up a fresh blog regarding today's Insider (link here) at some point tonight because I'll be on the move most of the day, but here's the celebrity list for this month's Road Tour. You can tell there are some very good guys on the Wild because there's a couple of players (John Scott and Andrew Ebbett) on this tour that may not be back with the team next season.

By the way, I'll be on 1500 ESPN Radio at 6:40 p.m. CT tonight. Here's your Road Tour

CELEBRITIES SET FOR 2010 WELLS FARGO MINNESOTA WILD ROAD TOUR
Six Wild Players, Three Wild Alumni and Wild Broadcasters Highlight Schedule

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Minnesota Wild has announced the celebrities for each leg of the 18-city, four-state 2010 Wells Fargo Minnesota Wild Road Tour. Three separate legs of the tour begin Monday, June 21 and will stop at two locations each day. Each leg features a popular Wild alumnus, two current Wild players, in addition to one or more Wild broadcasters. The tour will culminate with the fifth annual Wild Summer Bash on Thursday, June 24 at the Mall of America from 6-9 p.m.

The first leg of the tour will include Wild broadcaster Mike Greenlay, former Wild player Antti Laaksonen, current Wild players John Scott and Cody Almond, as well as mascot Nordy. Leg one will make stops in Roseau, International Falls, Ely, Hibbing, Duluth and St. Cloud.

Leg two features Wild broadcaster Dan Terhaar, Wild alumnus and current Director of Community Partnerships Brad Bombardir, Wild players Brent Burns and Nate Prosser, plus Nordy. This leg will start in Sioux City, Iowa, and include stops in Sioux Falls, S.D., Moorhead, Grand Forks, N.D., Fergus Falls and Alexandria. Prosser, a native of Elk River, Minn., played junior hockey for the Sioux Falls Stampede.

The final leg includes Wild radio team Bob Kurtz, Tom Reid and Kevin Falness, Wild alumnus Wes Walz, and current players Andrew Ebbett and Clayton Stoner. Leg three will begin in Rochester and continue on to Red Wing, Austin, Faribault, Waseca and Hutchinson.

Each tour stop will include a fundraising opportunity for local youth hockey associations. Wild partners Coca-Cola and Schweigert will be donating products for each city’s youth hockey association to sell at the stops, with all proceeds benefiting local youth hockey. The Wild and Wells Fargo are supporting Cell Phones for Soldiers on the Road Tour. Fans will receive a free puck or mug when donating a used cell phone at one of the Road Tour stops. Cell Phones for Soldiers will recycle the used cell phone and send a 60-minute phone card to a soldier overseas for each phone donated. Minnesota Army National Guard and Kemps will also be prominent at the stops on the 2010 Wells Fargo Minnesota Wild Road Tour.

The Best Buy Rotunda at Mall of America will serve as the site of the Summer Bash on Thursday, June 24. From 6-9 p.m., fans will have a chance to play hockey-themed games and can take part in autograph sessions and photo opportunities with Wild celebrities. Activities will also be scheduled at the Sears Court and Bloomingdale’s Court.
