YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES

Michael Rand started RandBall with hopes that he could keep lies from conquering the minds of the weak. So far, he's only succeeded in using the word "redacted" a lot. He welcomes suggestions, news tips, links of pure genius, and pictures of pets in Halloween costumes here, though he already knows he will regret that last part.

Did you wake up to snow on the ground this morning? If so, congratulations; you've just been part of Minnesota weather history, one of the 10 latest snowfalls in nearly 12 decades of record keeping. This might beat all comers for the strangest year ever; we had snow October 10 and May 8 and also the nicest spring that anybody can remember. For all of this, I blame one person: Brett Favre. It only makes sense.
*On with the links, which on a snowy morning, of course, are mostly about baseball:
*Parker Hageman is in full research mode, first attempting to determine whether Nick Blackburn has 86'ed his slider, then trying to figure out why Denard Span struggled earlier this year.
*Meanwhile, John "Twins Geek" Bonnes examines the story so far, while Twinkie Town posts video proof (from 1982) that it is possible for the Twins to brawl, and to get hurt doing so.
*Spencer Hall went to the Kentucky Derby, apparently while dressed as Professor Harold Hill from "The Music Man." As always: approve.
*And finally: I think this says everything that needs to be said about NBC's expectation for hockey players.
We'd better stop there -- after all, you probably have to get outside and shovel. (On the bright side, it makes playoff hockey feel a little more normal, doesn't it?)

Proprietor note: It's nice to see Jon has shifted most of his gloom and doom toward weather instead of sports, isn't it?
