Anthony Diloreto, the former Hopkins High School basketball player who pleaded guilty last year after being involved in a Wisconsin bank robbery, was arrested in Utah last week for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Diloreto, a 7-foot center, is now a redshirt on the basketball team at Utah State.

Utah State coach Stew Morrill has removed Diloreto from the team. "My thoughts are, No. 1, it's very disappointing," Morrill said in a conference call with Utah media after the incident. "No. 2, I've given second chances to people on the recommendation of people I trust, and it's up to them what they do with it."

Diloreto was pulled over by Utah State campus police around 6 p.m. on Feb. 1 because one of his vehicle's headlights wasn't functioning. The officer smelled marijuana and said Diloreto admitted he had been smoking. DiLoreto had marijuana with him, which he gave to the officer, who then arrested and booked Diloreto into the Cache County Jail

Diloreto pleaded guilty in August to possession of burglarious tools in a bank robbery in Burnett County, Wis. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail and 100 hours of community service in Burnett County. Diloreto's sentence was divided into three 30-day installments of jail time to be served in Burnett County, allowing him to participate with the USU basketball team during the school year.
