Michael Rand started RandBall with hopes that he could keep lies from conquering the minds of the weak. So far, he's only succeeded in using the word "redacted" a lot. He welcomes suggestions, news tips, links of pure genius, and pictures of pets in Halloween costumes here, though he already knows he will regret that last part.

Before we get to the news of Lovie Smith presumably sticking around Chicago, two things from Stu:
1) New format: Not bad. Rocket's continued insolence seems to be the only bug.
Anyone else have thoughts one way or another on today's blog tweaks?
2) Charleston: I love it when someone who I thought was dead (in this case, Bobby Cremins) shows up on SportsCenter out of the blue. Up next: Lefty Driesell, Oscar Gamble or Dolph Schayes.
Indeed.
And now: Lovie Smith apparently isn't the problem. It's just all the idiots he hired, supervised and trusted with his coaching mandates. From ESPN.com:
Lovie Smith will remain coach of the Chicago Bears, but he'll return with a different staff as the team fired offensive coordinator Ron Turner, along with five other offensive assistants. The Bears had high hopes for 2009 after trading for quarterback Jay Cutler, but finished 7-9. Since going to Super Bowl XLI, where they lost to the Indianapolis Colts, the Bears are 23-25 and have missed the playoffs three straight seasons.
Very cunning of the Vikings. There could have been a complete overhaul in Chicago if that MNF game had turned out differently.
