Gophers tight end Brandon Lingen will have surgery to repair a broken clavicle and miss four to five weeks, coach Tracy Claeys said Sunday.

The injury is not related to the shoulder surgery that Lingen had after spring practice, Claeys said. Lingen missed the season opener and was back at full health when he returned for Saturday's 58-28 win over Indiana State.

Lingen, an honorable mention All-Big Ten player last season, had at least three pancake blocks and had one reception for 17 yards against the Sycamores. But he went up for a pass in the third quarter and came down hard on his left shoulder.

Since Lingen broke that same clavicle earlier in his college career, he'll have a plate inserted this time. It's a setback for the Gophers, who will need Nate Wozniak, Colton Beebe and Nick Hart to pick up the slack while Lingen heals.
