Greetings from Indiana, where I just watched what many were saying after the game might have been the best WNBA finals game ever played.

Not just in terms of suspense. But in terms of overall play. There was a lot of skill out there tonight. Both teams busting it on defense, but both teams shooting 50 percent anyway.

And, of course, Maya Moore. 24 points in 22:11 of playing time. 12 points in 10 minutes in the fourth quarter. And the shot still being heard 'round Indianapolis.

It was the first game-winning buzzer-beater in a finals game since Sue Bird did it for Seattle in 2010.

Here are some thoughts on the game:

--It might have gotten lost among Moore's heroics, but it was a brilliant move by Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve to put Lindsay Whalen back into the game with 1.7 seconds left to in-bound the ball to Maya Moore. Because of matchups, Whalen's role in this series has been diminished. Those 1.7 seconds constituted all the playing time Whalen had in the fourth quarter. But she knows where to go with the ball, and she knows Moore. And Reeve knew that, so she subbed Whalen in for just that play.

.

--Another great game by the bench. Anna Cruz had 10 points and five assists with two steals. Now, she also had a couple bad gaffes, messing up two in-bounds plays. But, again, she played very good defense.

Renee Montgomery, meanwhile, had 12 points and two assists ,and hit the game-tying three-pointer with 1:11 left. Devereaux Peters came in and played some very quality minutes in the third quarter, when she scored four of her six points.

--Seimone Augustus might still be hurting a little, and she hasn't found her shot yet – she was 6-for-15 tonight – but she played hard. And she played a lot. Her 37:14 of playing time was the most by any player on the floor tonight.

--More on Cruz and Montgomery: Starting Fever guards Shenise Johnson and Briann January combined for 32 points tonight. But they had only nine points combined in the second half.

--The Lynx will have a chance to close this thing out Sunday here in Indy. Game 3 starts at 7:30 p.m. central time and the Lynx will be going for their third WNBA title in five years.

That's about it for now. Have a good night.
