The Wild signed defenseman Tyson Strachan to a one-year, two-way contract Thursday.
Strachan, 30, had five assists in 46 games with Buffalo last season. The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder has played in 184 NHL games with St. Louis, Florida, Washington and Buffalo. He played college hockey at Ohio State and was drafted by Carolina in the fifth round in 2003.
Strachan is likely headed for Iowa, but gives the Wild a depth option if it gets thin defensively.
