He welcomes suggestions, news tips, links of pure genius, and pictures of pets in Halloween costumes here, though he already knows he will regret that last part.

Remember Percy Harvin? He's going to play for the Seahawks this weekend

Posted by: Michael Rand under Vikings Updated: January 10, 2014 - 12:38 PM

Remember Percy Harvin? The awesome but sometimes troubled receiver and returner with the Vikings? Sure you do, even if it would be easy to forget about him this year.

Harvin didn't quite shed his reputation for missing time in 2013. In his first year with the Seahawks after a messy breakup and trade from the Vikings, he caught exactly one pass and played exactly one game -- and yes, it was against his former team.

Harvin had hip surgery before the season, missed every game leading up to the one vs. the Vikings, then missed the rest with "soreness."

But Harvin does love the spotlight, and he has declared himself fit for action now that Seattle is ready to attempt a march to the Super Bowl.

Per the AP:

Pete Carroll told Percy Harvin that the Seattle Seahawks were considering placing him on injured reserve to open up a roster spot ahead of the postseason. Percy Harvin to practice, expected to play in playoffs SB Nation Harvin's response: ''Coach I'm ready to play ball.''

That conversation less than two weeks ago was the start of a return that took another significant step on Thursday when Carroll announced Harvin would play on Saturday against New Orleans in an NFC divisional playoff game.

''We're excited about him going and excited for him. It's been a long, long haul for a guy that's such a great competitor and it means so much,'' Carroll said. ''For him to have the opportunity to join us now is really exciting, I know, for him and us, too.''

There will be no limitations on how Seattle can use its biggest offseason acquisition, brought to Seattle in a trade with Minnesota. Harvin ended up a spectator for most of the 2013 regular season, but now could make his biggest impact in the playoffs as a wide receiver and kick returner. It could be a big boost to Seattle's offense, which slumped late in the season.

''I'm just glad to be out there helping my team win right now. The playoffs, that's what we all dream about, to have home-field advantage, to have all the things the team has put in place. It would be hard for me to try to not be out there,'' Harvin said. ''Everything worked out for the best and I'm looking forward to being out there and helping this team win.''
