This is Amelia Rayno's third season on the Gophers men's basketball beat. She learned college basketball in North Carolina (Go Tar Heels!), where fanhood is not an option. In 2010, she joined the Star Tribune after graduating from Boston's Emerson College, which sadly had no exciting D-I college hoops to latch onto. Amelia has also worked on the sports desk at the Boston Globe and interned at the Detroit News.

Gophers target Reid Travis making his decision today

The time has come.

With the fall signing period just around the corner, the first of the 2014 local 'Big Three' -- Reid Travis, Tyus Jones and Rashad Vaughn -- has staged an announcement.

For Travis, the big news will be unveiled on Friday afternoon at 3:30 at De La Salle High School. The senior tweeted out an invitation to the public on Monday.

The event will be streamed live on WCCO.com.

Travis is deciding between Stanford and Minnesota. According to Ryan James at Rivals.com, Duke has been eliminated.

He would be the fourth Gophers recruit for the 2014 class, joining guards Nate Mason and Carlos Morris and forward Josh Martin.

It would be an incredibly momentous get for Minnesota, who has only been recruiting Travis for a little more than six months. When the new staff arrived in Minneapolis, they were not expected to land any of the three.
