The biggest question after Friday's 3-3 tie with Boston College was the health of Gophers senior defenseman Jake Parenteau. Sunday's line chart updated his status by leaving Parenteau off the list for the series finale.

Parenteau skated in Saturday's practice, but what the team is calling an upper-body injury needs more rest. He hit his head on the goalpost early in the first period of Friday's game and was slow to get it up.

Gophers coach Don Lucia said he didn't expect it to be a "long term" injury. Parenteau, however, will get two weeks of rest before the Gophers play again. They have a bye week before traveling to Notre Dame Nov. 8-9.

Jake Bischoff is listed in place of Parenteau, with Ryan Reilly added as an extra skater. According to Gophers staff, there is no limit on how many players you can dress in non-conference games. Bischoff has also been banged up and could see limited time.

A day off might have been what the Gophers' defense needed. Though it wasn't long enough to get Parenteau back, it gave the five defenders that filled Parenteau's void on Friday a chance to catch their breath.

"Based on having five [defensemen] today the last half [of the game], and the pace, and the early-season conditioning, it's probably good that there is a day off in-between," Lucia said on Friday.

The day off was thanks to Saturday's Gophers football game with Nebraska. Any time home football and hockey games are scheduled there is a chance the football game pushes hockey to Sunday.

A Friday-Sunday series could happen again the weekend of Nov. 22-24. Gophers hockey is scheduled for Friday and Saturday 7 p.m. games. However, if Saturday's Gophers football home game against Wisconsin has a start time after 11 a.m., then the hockey game will likely be moved to Sunday. Football's start time is TBD.
