Monday Lynx star Maya Moore won her second Western Conference Player of the Week award in three weeks.

It was both well-deserved and well-timed.

Deserved? All Moore did was average 25 points in three games during the week, including her 35-point performance Sunday against Indiana, currently the most points scored in a WNBA game this season. But it also coincides with the Lynx going to New York to play the Liberty Tuesday night.

Which brings us to well-timed.

Remember the last time the two teams played? It was Aug. 18 at Target Center, when Moore scored 28 points, playing late into a game that was already decided; the Lynx won by 21 points. After the game Liberty GM and coach Bill Laimbeer – a long-time colleague of Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve – criticized the decision to leave Moore in the game so long, saying Reeve was just trying to get Moore another player of the week award. "She should get hurt for that," Laimbeer said of Moore.

Laimbeer was ultimately fined for that comment. And now we get the rematch. After Monday's practice Reeve downplayed the situation. "It's over and done with," she said. "The league took care of it, and we all move on.''

Moore, meanwhile, said she had not read Laimbeer's comments in the first place. When told what he said, Moore responded, "Only thing I can do is try to play as long as I can and not get hurt."

Teammate Seimone Augustus, meanwhile, appeared to take some humor from the situation.

"Bill is a cranky old man," she joked. "But he's a competitor. He's the same way Reeve is. She doesn't' like to lose. He talks smack, he says what he has to say. (But) some things can be inappropriate."
