This is Amelia Rayno's third season on the Gophers men's basketball beat. She learned college basketball in North Carolina (Go Tar Heels!), where fanhood is not an option. In 2010, she joined the Star Tribune after graduating from Boston's Emerson College, which sadly had no exciting D-I college hoops to latch onto. Amelia has also worked on the sports desk at the Boston Globe and interned at the Detroit News.

The Gophers got a nod from 6-8 small forward Paul White on Monday when he narrowed his list to five, including Minnesota.

White tweeted his list:

According to Chicagohoops.com, White has set up visits at all five, including Minnesota on Oct. 4-6.

  • Terry Larrier has cut his list to five schools, and the Gophers aren't one of them according to Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog.com. The 6-8 wing's AAU coach -- Team Scan's Terrance Williams -- told SNY.tv that he has narrowed the schools he is interested in to six: UConn, Florida, Florida State, Miami, VCU and Seton Hall. Larrier eliminated Minnesota, along with Penn State, Marquette and St. John's.
