Michael Rand started RandBall with hopes that he could convince the world to love jumpsuits as much as he does. So far, he's only succeeded in using the word "redacted" a lot. He welcomes suggestions, news tips, links of pure genius, and pictures of pets in Halloween costumes here, though he already knows he will regret that last part.

Report: Timberwolves interested in dealing for Nets guard MarShon Brooks

The Wolves could solve some of their shooting guard depth problems via a trade, according to the New York Daily News. Third-year guard MarShon Brooks, who tumbled out of the Nets' rotation last year, is a Wolves target, the paper reported:

The Nets have been involved in discussions of a trade that would send MarShon Brooks to the Timberwolves, multiple sources told the Daily News.

Minnesota has shown interest in the third-year guard out of Providence, calling around the league for feedback and initiating trade discussions. Talks have not escalated to anything serious or imminent at the moment, according to a source. However, another source said that a proposal is on the table waiting for the Timberwolves' approval.

The report suggested the Wolves could deal Luke Ridnour or J.J. Barea to the Nets, who need point guards. Pieces would need to be added in order to make the money match.

A draft pick is another option; in fact, ESPN.com's Chad Ford now has the Nets drafting No. 26, the second of the Wolves' first-round picks, in exchange for Brooks.

Brooks, a rare four-year player at Providence, played extensively as a rookie in 2011-12 for the Nets, averaging nearly 30 minutes per game and 12.6 ppg while making 47 starts. His playing time dipped last year, most likely because the Nets acquired Joe Johnson. His points per 36 minutes remained nearly the same (15.5 two years ago, 15.6 last year). He has good size (6-5, 200), but he's made just 30.2 percent of his NBA career three-point attempts after making 33.2 percent in college, so he wouldn't really solve the Wolves' woes from that area unless he improved.

Still, he would at least be a rotation guy at a position of need. We would like the trade better as a swap of a backup point guard (Barea, Ridnour) than a draft pick, but neither seems too much to ask.
