Montreal Canadiens defenseman PK Subban will be announced as the Norris Trophy winner at the Stanley Cup Final, according to a tweet from Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos.

If true, Subban beat out the Wild's Ryan Suter and Pittsburgh's Kris Letang for the league's best defenseman award for 2012-13.

Suter, 28, led the NHL in average ice time (27 minutes, 16 seconds) a game, finished third among defensemen in points (32) behind Montreal's P.K. Subban and Pittsburgh's Kris Letang and second in assists (28) behind Letang.

Because of the lockout, the traditional Las Vegas awards show won't occur this year. Typically, the three finalists for each award are brought in to Vegas for a big gala.

As a replacement this year, the winners for all the awards (not all winners can attend hear) will be brought in to the Stanley Cup Finals. Because of this factoid, word is bound to leak out slowly but surely beforehand as to which players have been invited to the Finals (hence, I'm guessing the genesis of today's Subban news).

The Wild's Josh Harding is a finalist for the Masterton, incidentally.
