UPDATE: The University of Minnesota has officially announced the additions of Adel and Brown, as well as Steve Goodson, which we reported last week.

"I am excited to announce Steve, Shaun and Josh as additions to our staff here at Minnesota," coach Richard Pitino said in a release. "I have a history with each one of these guys, so they are coming into this situation with knowledge of what is expected of them. They know that they will be playing an integral role as we try and take this program to the next level."

The Gophers will round out new coach Richard Pitino's basketball staff with two new additions, a source tells the Star Tribune.

Josh Adel will join Minnesota as the assistant director of basketball operations after spending last season with Pitino at Florida International and the five previous years at Florida.

Shaun Brown will be the Gophers' new strength and conditioning coach after Steve Felde was re-assigned to other sports. Brown spent the last three seasons at USC under Kevin O'Neill.

A few other notes on the three:

  • Goodson, a Tell City, Ind. native, was the special assistant to Tubby Smith for all four years of the former coach's tenure. The 30-year-old got his degree from Kentucky, and worked as a student manager for Smith rom 2001 to 2005 while there. He has also worked as an operations intern for USA Basketball each summer from 2002-06.
  • Prior to USC, Brown spent three years as the strength and conditioning coach at Virginia. Brown -- who earned degrees from Canisius in 1987 and Ohio State in 1988 -- has also worked as the head strength coach for both the Boston Celtics and the Toronto Raptors.
  • Adel began his stint with the Gators in 2007 and was promoted to head manager in 2009. He graduated from Florida in 2012.
