As a young guy on an old team, former Twins center fielder Ben Revere is getting a lot of attention with the Philadelphia Phillies.
Here's a look at some of what's shown up on the web within the last day or so.
A Philly.com story from spring training points out one of the flaws in Revere's game, an unhealthy coupling of batting average and on-base percentage. While pointing out that Revere had a .294 average for the Twins last season, writer Matt Gelb cited Revere's .333 on-base percentage and wrote: "No one who hit at least .294 in 2012 had a lower on-base percentage than Revere."
And Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said: "I guarantee you the fans will like him if he gets on base."

Meanwhile, New York Times baseball writer Tyler Kepner described Revere as "a fresh, eager presence among the veterans" on the Phillies.
Kepner's writing puts the harsh on some of Revere's enthusiasm for his new team.
Revere tells him: “I’m only 24 years old; most guys say that’s really young in the major league baseball life. Every year I want to get better at something, improve on something. If I’m batting leadoff, I want to try to be that spark plug like I’ve been all my life, so I can get that train moving, get the fireworks working. We’ve got a really great lineup.”
Then Kepner adds: "Faced with such enthusiasm, only the truly heartless would tell Revere that while he toiled for the Twins last season, the train stalled and the fireworks fizzled in Philadelphia. The Phillies scored only 684 runs, their fewest in 15 years, and needed a strong second half just to finish .500, snuffing a streak of five consecutive National League East titles."
Even finishing .500 is a foreign concept in Revere's major league career so far.

And one of the Philadelphia TV station's report on Revere cited his penchant for spectacular plays in the outfield: "If I have to sacrifice my body to make a play, I'll do that. I've been that way since I was a kid," he told a Ch. 6 sports reporter.
The TV station also unearthed this video of Revere doing his best Beyonce, shot when he was with the Twins' Class AAA team at Rochester. Consider it your reward for reading this far.
