Multiple bad breakups and heartbreaks have led Minnesota sports fans to have a collective abandonment issue. And right now, we are developing the unhealthiest of relationships with one of the best young stars in the state: Kevin Love.

Now: It's not like Kevin has done nothing to stoke the fire. His hand injuries this year have been frustrating, and his contract/future venting to Yahoo was mis-timed, at best.

But as it stands now, Minnesota fans are in this constant push-pull: An alarming number think the Wolves are better off without Love (not true) and should trade him, but some of the very same people worry constantly that he wants to leave. We only want him if he wants us.

Case in point: Last night, Love incited a brief Twitter freak-out when he posted a picture of a watch on top of Jerry West's biography. He wrote: Appreciate @MAESTROKNOWS for this Infinity piece. Will wear it as a reminder that dreams don't have deadline.

OH NO! DOES THIS MEAN HE'S OUT THE DOOR TO THE LAKERS THE MINUTE HIS CONTRACT IS UP? THE WATCH! THE BOOK! THE SYMBOLISM!!!

He then found himself on the defensive (something he needs more of ON the court, but that's another story). In this case, though, we'll stick up for Love. A man can read a book. This seemed harmless (and was followed by a #wolvesunited tweet):

So there you have it. Love might leave a few years down the line. He might not. Worrying about it right now isn't going to change that. When healthy and focused, Love is one of the best young players in the game. Forgetting that right now is a shame.
