Jerry Zgoda missed the entire Kevin Garnett era, but he's back covering the Timberwolves after working the beat for their first four seasons two decades ago. In between, he covered a bit of everything: Gopher men's and women's basketball and NCAA athletics, golf, outdoor recreation, sports media and a little Vikings and Twins.

Rubio to start vs. Clippers, or will he?

Ricky Rubio was wearing the white starter's jersey at this morning's shootaround, a sign that he's going to move into the starting lineup tonight against the Clippers on TNT.

Well, Terry Porter played coy this morning, saying at first that Rubio isn't starting and then later saying he's not promising that he won't.

"I can't promise that because I'm not the man in charge," he said. "But that discussion will be made.Ut hasn't been established. When the ball goes up, you'll be able to tell by then."

He did say Rubio's playing time has been increased, to 26 to 28 minutes now.

He was on a 22-to-24 minute limit, but Porter played him 26 minutes at Dallas on Monday anyway.

"I think I exceeded the 24," he said. "I got a demerit taken away from me."

Porter said many lineup changes have been discussed to help a team that went winless on a four-game road trip just completed Monday.

"That's one of them," he said.

He did not say whether Dante Cunningham or Derrick WIlliams will start at power forward, but said it's most likely Cunningham will stay as starter there.

Also, Andrei Kirilenko, Alexey Shved and Lazar Hayward all were at shootaround after they missed Tuesday's practice because they were ill.

Porter said all are available to play tonight.
