Hang on, folks. In this new role, I do still plan to write articles for the newspaper. I have a few in the reporting stages, and I'm working on one for tomorrow about a potential change to the NCAA's transfer rule that would allow athletes to compete immediately after transferring, if their GPA is 2.6 or higher.

I'll be interested to get your thoughts on that.

Meanwhile, a quick note that GopherIllustrated.com posted an update on Ryan Santoso this morning, in which the Gophers kicking recruit explained that he visited Southern Miss so he'd have something to compare to Minnesota.

"After taking the visit, I knew that Minnesota was the place for me. Southern Miss didn't have the kind of academics I was looking for and Minnesota was a much better fit for me. I'm done taking any more visits and am shutting down my recruiting. I can't wait to get back up to Minnesota!"
