Michael Rand started RandBall with hopes that he could keep lies from conquering the minds of the weak. So far, he's only succeeded in using the word "redacted" a lot. He welcomes suggestions, news tips, links of pure genius, and pictures of pets in Halloween costumes here, though he already knows he will regret that last part.

TFD: At long last, Teddy Roosevelt wins the Presidents' Race at Nationals game

It truly is a season of firsts for the Nationals. Not only did they return playoff baseball to Washington D.C. for the first time in roughly 8 decades, but they ended their regular season in style ... by letting the Teddy Roosevelt mascot FINALLY win the Presidents' Race. He had gone more than 500 races, since the start of the 2006 season, without winning a single time. We'll let Dan Steinberg bring you the words since it means a lot to him. Video below:
Wearing a red headband and bright gold shoes modeled after those made famous by world’s fastest man Usain Bolt, Teddy got off to a slow start, trailing Abe, then Jefferson, then Washington.
But a green blob intended to resemble the Phillie Phanatic felled the three leaders in the right field corner, and Roosevelt strolled home by himself as the crowd roared and began chanting his name (really).
He then ripped off his usual jersey, revealing a red “Natitude” t-shirt, and soaked in the cheers.
