The Lynx came close to setting a single-season WNBA record for shooting percentage this season, finishing at 47.3 percent.

But on Sunday in Seattle, they looked like a junior high team in the fourth quarter and two overtimes, missing shot after shot.

They made one more free throw (26) than baskets in this game. They were 25 of 77 from the field, a season-worst 32.5 percent.

Point guard Lindsay Whalen had one of the worst shooting nights in her career, going two for 15 as the Lynx fell 86-79. She had 10 points because she made all six of her free throws.

Maya Moore was five for 17, Seimone Augustus only slightly better at six for 16.

The bench of Monica Wright, Candice Wiggins and Devereaux Peters was one for nine.

Only Rebekkah Brunson shot above 50 percent, making nine of 15 shots. Brunson finished with 22 points and 15 rebounds.

The Lynx looked good in the first and third quarters, scoring 27 and 22 points. But they were awful in the second and fourth, scoring 10 and 11 and they had only nine points in two overtimes.

Seattle shot 40.3 percent. Guard Sue Bird led the Storm with 22 points and her backcourt teammate Tanisha Wright had 18.

The Storm was nine of 21 on three-point attempts, facing elimination from the playoffs if they lost.

Now the series is tied 1-1 and moves back to Target Center for Game 3. It will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday on ESPN2. The Lynx are 17-1 at home, counting Friday's 78-70 playoff win over the Storm.

Maybe familiar surroundings will help the Lynx's shooting eye.

KEY PLAYS

At the end of the fourth quarter, Taj McWilliams-Franklin had two free throws with 11 seconds and the Lynx ahead 69-67. She made the first, missed the second. Seattle's Lauren Jackson made a three-pointer with 1.1 seconds left to tie the score at 70-all.

At the end of the first overtime, Tanisha Wright of the Storm made a wide-open three-pointer with 23.9 seconds left. Maya Moore was on her but moved away when she faked a pass to her left. Seimone Augustus missed a jump shot with 2.1 seconds left.

In the second overtime, Bird made two three-pointers, Tina Thompson one. More than enough to outscore the Lynx this night.

QUESTIONS

At the end of regulation, the Lynx had a foul to give. Maybe they should have fouled someone before Jackson took her three-point shot. Disrupt their offensive plans.

With nobody hitting shots, especially threes, why not put Erin Thorn in? She's a veteran guard and a good outside shooter. The Lynx's offense was dreadful after the third quarter.
