This is Amelia Rayno's second season on the Gophers' basketball beat. She learned college basketball in North Carolina (Go Tar Heels!), where fanhood is not an option. In 2010, she joined the Star Tribune after graduating from Boston's Emerson College, which sadly had no exciting D-I college hoops to latch onto. Amelia has also worked on the sports desk at the Boston Globe and interned at the Detroit News.

Andre Hollins breaking out in 2013?
A few notes as we anticipate the start of basketball season – team practice officially starts in mid-October, sooner than you think:
- First off, the Gophers start campus visits rounds this week with three Class of 2013 recruits coming on Friday:
- On a separate note, coach Tubby Smith gave an injury update Wednesday; video below:

- The Gophers have been getting some pre-season love nationally, and did again Tuesday, when Sports Illustrated’s Luke Winn pointed to Andre Hollins as one of six players he sees breaking out in 2013-14.
