One of the reasons to consider the Twins unwatchable just might be their lack of offense, especially against even mediocre teams such as Seattle. You can tip your hat to Felix Hernandez for limiting the Twins to five hits and stranding Justin Morneau at third after a leadoff triple. But getting only one hit off Hisashi Iwakuma?

Perhaps the Twins aim to reconcile that with the call-up of Chris Parmelee. But their recent offensive struggles come as two unlikely former Twins (among lots of ex-Twins finding success this year) are swinging big bats this week.

The first is Lew Ford, above, who has hit two home runs the past two days for Baltimore ... while serving as their DH. Ford's homer Monday was his first in the majors since July 29, 2007. Exactly five years later, he was in the majors with the Orioles.

Can we discount Monday's homer since it came off ex-Twin Francisco Liriano? But Tuesday's came off Cy Young contender Chris Sale, who left in the fourth after Ford's blast and wasn't too happy with himself, calling his night "a disgrace" and "as bad as it gets."

Even more surprising than Ford as a DH with power is that he is trying to equal a mark he set with the Twins, when he hit home runs in three consecutive games. That happened in August 2005, when he hit them off ... the Seattle Mariners. Ford, who has been in the lineup against Chicago's lefties, might have to wait to equal the mark, as the White Sox go with righty Dylan Axelrod, recalled from the minors, and he did not start Wednesday night.

If there is anyone that can trump Ford, it might be ... Boof Bonser, who hit his first career home run for the Fresno Grizzlies in a 4-3 extra-inning win over the Reno Aces. The Fresno Bee said it was the first homer at home by a Grizzlies pitcher since 2003. Also, it came off Trevor Bauer, a top pitching prospect in the Cubs organization. Blogger Josh Timmers said it came on a 0-2 count, after Bauer had retired 10 in a row and "was crushed."

"Sometimes," Timmers wrote, "you just have to laugh." Remember that, Twins fans.
