The Wolves this afternoon waived Martell Webster, agreing to pay him $600,000 so they can wipe the rest of his $5.7 million contract for next season off their salary cap books.

Looks like more moves are coming today, even if they likely won't be either a sign-and-trade for Nicolas Batum or the offical offer sheet made to Batum.

The Wolves are expected to do the same with Brad Miller's contract and will renounce Anthony Tolliver's rights to clear yet more cap space to presumably make that $46.5 million offer to Nicolas Batum and fulfill $8 million in verbal contract agreements with Brandon Roy and Alexey Shved.

Also expect a trade or two made toward that same objective, probably as early as this evening.

For those of you still bitter that Ty Lawson is playing in Denver, obtained with that 18th overall pick in 2009 that the Wolves once owned: Webster is the guy the Wolves got from that transaction after they traded the 18th overall pick for a 2010 pick that became the 16th pick that year. The Wolves then traded that pick to Portland for Webster and the Blazers took Luke Babbitt with that pick.
