And the visitors, the Los Angeles Sparks, edged Connecticut 87-81 by scoring the last seven points of the game. Candace Parker, a 6-4 forward for the Sparks, dominated play. She had 33 points, 16 rebounds, eight assists and five blocks.

The score was tied at 66-all going into the fourth quarter.

Rookie Nneka Ogwumike made all seven shots she took and had 18 points and five rebounds for L.A.

Five players scored in double figures for the Sun. Center Tina Charles had 19 points and 13 rebounds. But as a team, L.A. had a 47-39 advantage on the boards.

Western Conference teams are now 4-7 versus Eastern teams.

Chicago 74, Seattle 58: The host Sky (7-1) won for the sixth time in a row, a franchise record. Guard Epiphanny Price had 17 points and center Sylvia Fowles had 16 points and 15 rebounds. Fowles was eight for 10 from the field and this was her eighth double-double in as many games.

The Sky led only 54-50 into the fourth quarter. They had a 44-21 dominance on the boards.

LYNX UPDATE

The Lynx (9-0) still hold a 1-1/2 game lead over L.A. in the Western Conference race. ... Guard Seimone Augustus (strained right quad) is still day-to-day. She is practicing with the team, but it is uncertain if she is going all-out. The Lynx play at Phoenix on Friday.

If the Lynx beat the Mercury, they will set an WNBA record for most consecutive wins to start the season. Only two L.A. teams were 9-0 before, the Sparks in 2001 and 2003.
