Last week, CBS Sports Network basketball analyst Wally Szczerbiak took to Twitter and said that Kevin Garnett lacked a #clutchgene after a poor performance in Game 2.

After Garnett's huge Game 5, Szczerbiak went on a Boston radio station and said he got it wrong, citing a couple of the big plays that Garnett made in Boston's victory over the Heat that has moved the Celtics within a game of the NBA Finals.

But, as sometimes happens, what could have been a simple apology turned into a look-at-me moment.

First, there was: "KG proved me completely wrong."

Then, there was: "If I'm one of the naysayers that's helping motivate KG play at this level, then maybe the Boston fans owe me a little thank you. Because he's just playing off the charts."

OK, Wally.

Here's the story as reported by the Boston Globe.

And here's the audio of the Szczerbiak interview, where you can judge for yourself how well Wally is playing defense.
