Just heard about this on Friday. Seems the U of M is selling used items from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Sports Pavilion. Guessing prices are reasonable.

Some of the items for the sale will include:

Team jerseys ... limit of four football jerseys per person
Shoes
Clothing
Other assorted gear from all the Gopher teams

Sounds like fun, but I have a wedding to go to. Maybe next year.

KAZAKHS ALMOST PULL OFF OWN MIRACLE

Thank goodness for two former Bulldogs.

Defenseman Justin Faulk scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, as the U.S. team edged the Republic of Kazahhstan 3-2 on Friday in the World Championships.

Faulk is a former UMD player, now with the Carolina Hurricanes. J.T. Brown, another Bulldog, had the other U.S. goal. Faulk is from South St. Paul, Brown from Burnsville.

The U.S team had a 50-19 shot advantage. Next the U.S. plays Finland at 8:15 a.m. Sunday on NBC Sports Network.

Kazakhstan, which has only 16.6 million people, pushed the U.S. to its limits. There probably would have been dancing in the streets of Astane, the capital, and Almaty, the largest city. And Borat, of course, would have been proud of his country.

Kazakhstan got its independence from the U.S.S.R. in 1991 and is the ninth largest country in the world, with parts of it in Europe and Asia.
