Former Twins closer Joe Nathan and Texas are coming to Minnesota for a three-game series starting Friday. For Nathan, it's probably a good time to get out of town.

Wednesday night, Nathan entered the game in the ninth inning to protect a 3-1 lead against Seattle.

Here's what happened.

- Justin Smoak singled to right. Runner on first with none out and Kyle Seager due up.
- Kyle Seager doubled to right. On the play, Justin Smoak advances to third. Runners on second and third with none out and Jesus Montero due up.
- Jesus Montero sacrifice fly scored Justin Smoak with one out.
- Michael Saunders double scored Munenori Kawasaki with one out.
- Michael Saunders stole third. Runner on third with one out and Brendan Ryan at the plate.
- Brendan Ryan struck out swinging. Runner on third with two outs and John Jaso due up.
- John Jaso single scored Michael Saunders with two outs.
- Chone Figgins struck out swinging to end the inning.

Seattle won 4-3.

ESPNDallas' writer Calvin Jenkins wrote: "Wednesday's blown save for the Rangers gives more negative things for fans to talk about, and they let (Nathan) hear it with boos when he left the mound after the top of inning was over."

On Yahoo! Sports, a fan blog asks the question: "Is it too soon to label Joe Nathan a bust."

The answer to that is yes, but that didn't keep Yahoo! contributor James Holland from writing: "What does $14 million buy you? Well, if you're the Texas Rangers you get two saves, one blown save and two losses in the form of closer Joe Nathan. ... Nathan's performance so far this season is the sole reason that the Rangers are 4-2 and not 6-0."

Fort Worth Star-Telegram blogger Mac Engel took the loss kind of hard, because he had to add a prolog to the upbeat post he'd written about Nathan after he saved Tuesday's game.

Another lesson about drawing too many conclusions too soon.
