Just a few thoughts on today's games in case you've been stuck in an office without a TV or the appropriate internet settings (sad):

  • Murray State 58, Colorado State 41: The Racers had a solid second half and Isaiah Canaan was as good as expected, but Murray State has got to play 40 minutes if they want to have a prayer against Marquette.
  • Kansas State 70, Southern Miss, 64: Southern Miss held on in an impressive showing, but Rodney McGruder was clutch again -- just like he has been all year.
  • Louisville 69, Davidson 62: Davidson only made it close when it didn't matter anymore. Rick Patino made it past the first round for the first time in three years.
  • Wisconsin 73, Montana 49: Whew, thank god I didn't pick the Badgers to lose in the FIRST round. They were a terrible matchup for the Grizzlies, who couldn't make enough shots to stay in the game.
  • Marquette 88, BYU 68: Jae Crowder was ridiculous and Marquette buried BYU with nine threes. Some are calling for as far as the Final Four for Marquette. Did we see enough for that? I don't know.
  • Syracuse 72, UNC-A 65: What a heartbreaker. The Bulldogs were in it the whole game, only to lose it via a really terrible out-of-bounds call on UNC-A. Too bad. Still, I think the Orange should enjoy this one. I don't see them winning again in this tournament.
  • New Mexico 75, Long Beach State 68: A good game here, but LBS' Casper Ware was limited in the second half allowing NM -- with clutch Kendall Williams -- to pull away and advance.
  • Vandy 79, Harvard 70: Crimson, you let me down. I had you beating Wisconsin in the next round!!! Agh, OK, I was wrong, but Harvard bounced back late in the second and made it a game. Just didn't have the time or the bullets to make it happen. You still have Jeremy Lin guys.
