Six of 12 seeds in WCHA playoffs set

The WCHA sent out a news release today on the best-of-three, first round conference playoffs coming up next weekend. It explains the various scenarios left. If you have a headache, stop reading now because if you don't it will get worse. The possibilities are a little mind boggling.

Here is what is know:

Alaska Anchorage(12th seed) at Gophers (1)

Minnesota State Mankato (11) at Minnesota Duluth (2)

??? at Denver (3)

??? at North Dakota (4)

??? at Colorado College (5 or 6)

The sixth team with home ice will be either St. Cloud State or Michigan Tech.

The playoff possibilies from the WCHA PR office:

Colorado College (29 points, vs Michigan Tech tonight) -
Seeded 5th with a win or a tie.
Seeded 5th with a loss and a Nebraska Omaha loss or tie.
Seeded 5th with a loss and a St. Cloud State loss or tie.
Seeded 6th with a loss, a Nebraska Omaha win, and a St. Cloud State win.

Nebraska Omaha (27 points, vs Denver tonight) -

 Got all that? There is much to be decided. Nebraska Omaha especially is an interesting spot. The red Mavs can finish either fifth or sixth and host, or seventh or eight and be on the road.

Minnesota Duluth over Denver (1-0-1 head-to-head)
North Dakota over Colorado College (2-0-0 head-to-head)
