Michael Rand started RandBall with hopes that he could keep lies from conquering the minds of the weak. So far, he's only succeeded in using the word "redacted" a lot. He welcomes suggestions, news tips, links of pure genius, and pictures of pets in Halloween costumes here, though he already knows he will regret that last part.

A point guard with international flair has become one of the most amazing stories in the young NBA this season, and he will be playing at Target Center on Saturday night.

And no, we're not talking about Ricky Rubio.

Instead, we're talking about the fascinating story of Jeremy Lin, the young Knicks point guard of Taiwanese descent who has taken the league by storm in the past week and captured the imagination of just about everyone watching him.

In case you don't know the back-story, Lin played college hoops at Harvard, went undrafted in 2010, was picked up by Golden State but played sparingly and bounced back and forth to the NBDL last season, was cut by the Warriors, picked up by Houston, cut by the Rockets, picked up by the Knicks and again used sparingly until ... these last three games.

In the last three games -- all victories for the Knicks, who have been without Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire for some of that stretch and who are expected to still be without both Saturday at Minnesota -- Lin has scored at least 23 points and dished out at least seven assists. He's played at least 36 minutes in each game after only cracking double-figures in minutes one previous time this season.

He's a Twitter sensation. Respected basketball minds are raving about him. Rockets GM Daryl Morey is already kicking himself for giving up on Lin. He has been immortalized in animation.

Unless you have League Pass, the only way to see Lin vs. Rubio is in person. Yes, Saturday's game is one of those non-televized games, though the last one (if you have FSN and NBATV) until early April.

Time will tell if he's a flash-in-the-pan or a long-term success, but right now it doesn't matter. Lin-sanity is hot.
