Michael Rand started RandBall with hopes that he could convince the world to love jumpsuits as much as he does. So far, he's only succeeded in using the word "redacted" a lot. He welcomes suggestions, news tips, links of pure genius, and pictures of pets in Halloween costumes here, though he already knows he will regret that last part.

Mid-day talker: Kevin Love's two-game suspension -- too much, not enough or right on?

Posted by: Michael Rand under Wolves news Updated: February 6, 2012 - 12:39 PM

The news is out -- Kevin Love was hit with a two-game suspension for stepping on Luis Scola in Saturday's game. We have to say we're a little surprised -- we thought, after weighing everything, that a one-game suspension would be the ultimate outcome based on the fact that from some angles it does look incidental.

Congrats, though, to Jason McIntyre from The Big Lead. We went back and forth on it with him yesterday, and he had it pegged as a two-gamer.

If there's a silver lining for the Wolves, it's that they'll presumably get a chance to see what Derrick Williams and Michael Beasley can do with more minutes the next two games -- including a still very winnable game Tuesday against Sacramento that would push the Wolves over .500 and a nice test at Z-bo-less Memphis on Wednesday.

If there's a silver lining for Love, he's ONLY losing $83,636 in pay for these two games, per Zgoda. If this was next year, when his extension kicks in, it would cost him more than three times as much (so over $250K). It also gives him a chance to think about the impact of what happened -- in terms of his wallet, his team and his reputation. If Love did it even half-intentionally, he needs to collect his thoughts, rein in his on-court demeanor and make sure this is only a blip on the radar. We'd love it if Love gets a reputation for being tough and fair. We'd hate to see him get pegged as a cheap-shot artist.

Will all that in mind: Did you think it was intentional? And did you think the punishment was too light, too much or about right?
