Gophers left winger Rachael Bona is the WCHA's rookie of the week.

Bona, of Coon Rapids, scored the first goal for the Gophers in their 3-2 comeback victory over Bemidji State last Friday. The Beavers led 2-0 in that game until Bona's goal in the middle of the second period.

She had seven shots on goal in the series. The Gophers and Beavers tied 3-3 in the second game, forcing a shootout which the U won 2-0 for the extra point in the WCHA standings.

Bona has at least one point in every series the Gophers have played in 2012. She has four goals and five assists for nine points this season in 26 games.

The other two weekly award winners were both North Dakota players. Junior forward Jocelyne Lamoureux was named the offensive player of the week and goalie Jorid Dagfinrud the defensive player of the week.

Lamoureux had five goals and four assists as UND swept St. Cloud State 10-0 and 9-0. Dagfinrud, a junior from Sarpsborg, Norway, stopped 43 shots in those two games.
