Jerry Zgoda missed the entire Kevin Garnett era, but he's back covering the Timberwolves after working the beat for their first four seasons two decades ago. In between, he covered a bit of everything: Gopher men's and women's basketball and NCAA athletics, golf, outdoor recreation, sports media and a little Vikings and Twins.

You wanted it, Wolves fans, you got it:

No. 2 overall pick Derrick WIlliams will get his first NBA start tonight.

He'll start at small forward -- a position where Rick Adelman has tried avoid playing him -- because Wes Johnson is out ill and the team has few options.

So for those clamoriing for more playing time....Williams will start along Darko Milicic and Kevin Love in the frontcourt.

Johnson fell ill today, didn't participate in the morning shoot and is out tonight.
