Jerry Zgoda missed the entire Kevin Garnett era, but he's back covering the Timberwolves after working the beat for their first four seasons two decades ago. In between, he covered a bit of everything: Gopher men's and women's basketball and NCAA athletics, golf, outdoor recreation, sports media and a little Vikings and Twins.

Video interview: Malcolm Lee on display tonight in preseason finale

The Wolves went through their morning shootaround in Milwaukee today for their last of this brief two-game preseason schedule as Monday's season opener against Oklahoma City fast approaches.

They did so without Ricky Rubio and J.J. Barea, who stayed behind in Minnesota on Tuesday when the team flew here to Milwaukee.

That means rookie Malcolm Lee should see a lot more playing time that the 4-plus minutes he played Saturday agains the Bucks at Target Center.

Also expect to see more of Anthony Randolph, Wayne Ellington, Nikola Pekovic and Bonzi Wells, all of whom played single-digit minutes on Saturday.

On another front...

I'm doing a little experimenting here this season, attempting to be more than just the dashing triple-threat -- writing, blogging, tweeting -- that you've come to know and love during four seasons back on the beat.

This time, I'm venturing out on video.

Here's an interview I did with Lee -- a second-round pick out of UCLA -- at this morning's shoot.

In the past several months, I've run into many, many followers of this blog -- at the State Fair, the U2 concert in July, on the street in Newark, N.J., and at the Byerlys meat counter -- who recognized me and have commented how they enjoy the blog.

Most of the people those who approached me were guys in their 20s, I'd guess, .

Now, I know that's not because of my handsome mug -- you here who love to mention Karl from Slingblade, well, you know who are you -- but it's because of the growing interest in this team and I believe the interactive nature of blogs.

So...in an attempt to make the blog even more interactive, I'm going to be experimenting with posting videos from time to time.

Not all the time, mind you. But hopefully enough to liven up the blog when time permits from my other duties.

As for this first one...

Forgive me if you feel like you're watching a bit of Blair Witch Project.

I'll get better at the camera work and I'm supposed to be getting an external microphone so the sound should get better in time too and you'll hear more of Lee and others and less of me and basketballs bouncing in the background.
