Jerry Zgoda missed the entire Kevin Garnett era, but he's back covering the Timberwolves after working the beat for their first four seasons two decades ago. In between, he covered a bit of everything: Gopher men's and women's basketball and NCAA athletics, golf, outdoor recreation, sports media and a little Vikings and Twins.

The Timberwolves waived Dominique Johnson and Shaun Pruitt, two players who had been invited to training camp.

Johnson is a 6-3 guard from Azusa Pacific who had begun the 2011-12 season with the Texas Legends of the NBA D-League.

Pruit, a 6-10 forward-center, played overseas in the Czech Republic League and the Chinese Basketball Association in 2009-10 and for Peristeri BC in the Greek League and Gallitos de Isabela in the Puerto Rico league in 2009-10.
