When InterMat does its college wrestling ratings, it looks at team's tournament strength. How many points it would score in the NCAA tournament?

The Gophers have a wrestler rated in the top 10 in every weight class, so it's not at all surprising they are No. 3 in the team poll behind Big 10 rivals Iowa and Penn State.

The top rated Gophers, both at No. 2, are seniors Zach Sanders at 125 and Sonny Yohn at 197. Next is sophomore Tony Nelson, No. 4 at heavyweight. Obviously, the 'U' seems strongest at the bottom and top of their lineup.

In between, the Gophers have seven wrestlers rated between No. 6 and 10, including three freshmen.

133: sophomore David Thorn, No. 7

141: freshman Nick Dardanes, No. 10

149: freshman Dylan Ness, No. 6

157: red-shirt sophomore Jake Deitchler, No. 8 ... Deitchler, a Greco-Roman competitor on the U.S. team in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, did not wrestle last season because of post-concussion symptoms. If he is healthy, he would be a big help in the middle of the line-up.

165: junior Cody Yohn, No. 8

174: freshman Logan Storley, No. 10

184: sophomore Kevin Steinhaus, No. 6

The Gophers don't have anyone rated No. 1, but the Big Ten does. Penn State has three No. 1 wrestlers at 149, 165 and 184, Iowa has one at 125 and Michigan has one at 141.
