The Huntdown

Name: Ron Yary Claim to Fame, Minnesota: when the Vikings traded Fran Tarkenton to the New York Giants, they acquired the #1 overall pick in the 1968 NFL Draft. They used it on Yary, a tackle out of USC, who became a fixture on Minnesota's offensive line for 14 seasons and all four Super Bowls. The 7-time Pro Bowler missed only two games in his entire career and was finally elected to the Hall of Fame in 2001, no thanks to legendary grouch and Hall of Fame voter Dr. Z. Claim to Fame, Everywhere Else: won the Outland Trophy and the Knute Rockne award while at USC, and was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1987. Is He on Twitter: no. Where They Are Now: in a 2007 interview with the Strib's Mark Craig, he expressed an interest in moving from the Los Angeles exurbs back to the Twin Cities as soon as home prices ticked up. It may not surprise you to note that as of March 2011, he is still listed as a resident of said exurb. His residence is noted in this article about Yary's lawsuit against fellow former Viking Stu Voigt, and the $100,000 he claims to have lost probably isn't helping matters. Glorious Randomness 1: Yary was taken 395 picks higher than future Gopher AD McKinley Boston. Glorious Randomness 2: Both Yary and Voigt are members of the 50 Greatest Vikings club. I would guess that this is the first time one member has taken another one of the 50 to court, but Tommy Kramer's presence on the list cautions me from saying that with any certainty.
