The wnba.com weekly power ratings date to 2005. Since that time the Lynx have been No. 1 only twice. This second week of the 2011 season when they are 3-1 and the first week of 2009 when they started 2-0.

In 2009, they dipped to third the second week and never got any higher. So this is pretty rare air for the Lynx, to be at the top of the heap. Although rookie Maya Moore is used to it, coming from UConn. Here teams were 150-4 in four seasons.

She says she comes from "the land of high expectations."

Here's a safe prediction: Lynx will remain No. 1 next week.

How can I be so sure. Assuming the power rankings come out someday during the day next Friday, they will still be 3-1 as they are now. They don't play again 'til Friday evening vs. Atlanta at Target Center.

A look at the Lynx in the power ratings in previous years:

2010: Lynx were No. 8 in first week's power ratings and finished No. 8 in week 14 in 12-team league. Never got higher than No. 7 in weeks 6, 9 and 13.

2009: Started season as #1 after wins over Chicago and Indiana. They dipped to third in four of the next five weeks, then kept dropping to No. 13 in a 13-team league in week 12 and finished No. 11 in week 13.

2008: Began season at No. 5, climbed to No. 2 in weeks 3 and 4, then dipped to No. 11 in 14-team league in week 10. Also finished No. 11 in week 14.

2007: Were No. 11 in preseason poll, dropped to No. 13, in 13 teams league for first three weeks, also were No. 13 for six weeks late in the season and finished No. 12 in 14th week. Reached high of No. 11 in weeks 4-6.
