Commenter Stu does his thing, this time delivering a timely Hunt Down at the request of this fella. Stu? ---------------

The Huntdown

Name: Eric Milton Claim to Fame, Minnesota: part of the bounty in the Chuck Knoblauch trade, Milton was a left-handed starting pitcher for the Minnesota Twins from 1998-2003. Touted by some as having Tom Glavine-like upside, Milton never quite lived up to that billing, although he was an All-Star in 2001 (along with Christian Guzman and Joe Mays). Prior to Tuesday evening, he was also the last Twin to throw a no-hitter, with his coming against an abysmal Angels line-up on a Saturday morning in 1999. Milton was dealt to Philadelphia in the 2003 off-season for future Twins punch lines Carlos Silva and Nick Punto. Claim to Fame, Everywhere Else: although he wasn't a top-of-the-rotation guy for the Twins, his tenure here was much better than the rest of his MLB career. After posting a decent W-L record with the Phillies in 2004, Milton signed a 3-year, $25 million free agent deal with Cincinnati. His career numbers for the Reds: 16-27, 5.83 ERA, prolonged stays on the DL, and the title of Best Human Batting Tee from www.bestofcincinnati.com. Where He Is Now: Milton briefly resurrected his career in 2009 with the Dodgers, but his season ended thanks to herniated disc that needed season-ending surgery. As far as the internet is concerned, he has not pitched since. Is He on Twitter: no. Glorious Randomness: any Best of Cincinnati list that doesn't include WKRP news director and five-time Buckeye Newshawk Award-winner Les Nessman can't really be considered definitive, so Milton shouldn't take too much umbrage.
