This is Amelia Rayno's third season on the Gophers men's basketball beat. She learned college basketball in North Carolina (Go Tar Heels!), where fanhood is not an option. In 2010, she joined the Star Tribune after graduating from Boston's Emerson College, which sadly had no exciting D-I college hoops to latch onto. Amelia has also worked on the sports desk at the Boston Globe and interned at the Detroit News.

The Gophers are tracking in-state talent Johnny Woodard.

According to Rivals.com, assistant coach Vince Taylor will travel to Duluth Wednesday to watch the 6-4 shooting guard (class of 2012).

Woodard has excelled on the AAU scene with the Net Gain Sports program. He has scholarship offers from UW-Milwaukee and UW-Green Bay but other schools, such as Minnesota, have recently expressed interest in the prospect.

Here are some video highlights of Woodard from earlier this season. He's No. 24.
