In the grand tradition of journalism, we respond to the news of Randy Moss being cut by the Vikings with a timeline. It should be noted that most timelines are longer than this. Oct. 6, 2010: The Vikings officially acquire Randy Moss from the Patriots in exchange for a third-round pick. Pretty much everyone in the free world thinks Minnesota has pulled the wool over arrogant Bill Belichick's eyes and stolen a playmaking WR away from the Patriots. We are included in this list. The only people who truly hated it that we can remember are Drew Magary and The RandBall Better Half.

Oct. 11, 2010: Moss makes his debut on MNF against the Jets. The Vikings look clueless on offense in the first half. Brett Favre's deep ball to Moss in the second half ignites an ultimately futile rally. It ends up being his best game in purple.

Oct. 17, 2010: The only Vikings win of the second Moss era. He has five catches in an unsightly offensive performance saved by E.J. Henderson and Percy Harvin as the Vikings defeat a one-win Dallas team at the Dome by three points.

Oct. 24, 2010: Moss catches three passes, one for a TD, on Sunday night vs. Green Bay. He is visibly disgusted by the Vikings' decision to take a knee at the end of the first half. That, we believe, was the beginning of the end. The game ends with a desperation pass sailing over Moss' head.

Oct. 31, 2010: Moss makes one catch for eight yards against the Patriots, then goes on a rambling post-game speech where he praised just about everyone except those who wear purple.

Nov. 1, 2010 (less than one month after the trade): Straight cut, homey. Final tallies: Moss -- 13 catches, 174 yards, two TD catches. Vikings during new Moss era: 1-3. Patriots during that time: 4-0, plus a third-round draft pick. Belichick, Drew and the RBBH vindicated.

Vikings: In complete chaos.
